Hey everyone, I’m Kristi! And I’m so excited to officially meet you all. I wanted to take some time to introduce myself to the IdealFit community, since you may be seeing a lot more of me from here on out. 😉
A little about me:
I have been passionate about fitness for the past 17 years. I grew up a dancer and even had the chance to dance at Tokyo Disneyland and then again in the 2002 Winter Olympics—yeah, it was pretty surreal. But when I came home from Japan I felt like I needed a little break from dancing, so I put my heart and soul into fitness.
I have taught cycling classes for the past six years, and am a USAT Certified Triathlon Coach and RCAA Certified Running Coach. I qualified for the Kona Ironman Championships at the 2014 Arizona Ironman and competed in the 2015 Championship.
I’m pretty excited to bring the world of running and cycling to IdealFit, as it is such a passion of mine. I can’t wait to help you be able to improve your running/cycling/swimming/etc. performance. But even if you’re not an Ironman, running, and cycling are both awesome ways to get your heart pumping and torch calories. After a while, you’ll get the “Runner’s High” and be hooked.
Here are some questions I get that will help you get to know me even better, and may help you on your fitness journey as well.
What is your favorite music to workout to?
Top 100 (Pop) music for sure! Anything with a fun beat, that I can jam to and will give me a good tempo to get a good run and bike to!
What are your top 5 healthy snacks?
IdealLean Protein Bar, Good2Go Bar, Almonds, Fruit, Protein Drink.
What was your favorite thing about dancing at Tokyo Disney and which character(S) did you play?
Performing was my favorite part hands down. Also meeting new friends. I was Cinderella, Belle, and Sleeping Beauty.
What sparked your interest in running and cycling?
I started running when I was pregnant with the little girl I placed for adoption. It was something I wanted to do for myself, outside. Then it became a love and I got the “runner’s high”. I ran my first marathon the May after she was born at the Ogden Marathon and then it just became a great exercise that was easy to do from home, a great stress relief, a sweaty workout, and a great way to lose my baby weight.
Biking I started doing as cross-training for running since it’s not healthy to run every day. Then I started teaching soon after that and it slowly became my favorite form of cardio. Something that I discovered I was pretty good at and loved as a way to burn calories!
How has fitness changed your life?
Going from dance to fitness I find a lot of similarities in the discipline department. But fitness has become something that I can do the rest of my life, and the way it has changed my life is being able to help and motivate others in the fitness world.
What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Wake up, eat, and head to the gym. I always get my workout done first thing early in the morning because I know nothing can interrupt me at that time.
If you could tell women everywhere one thing, what would it be?
Love yourself, love your body, and never give up on your goals! You have something special about you that no one else in this world has.
Favorite thing to do outside of fitness?
Playing with my daughter and spending time with my family and friends!
What does your current workout routine look like?
Every other day I run, and the other days I bike. All while I lift different muscles 4 days a week.
What is your favorite race you have competed in and why?
Ironman Championship in Kona, Hawaii. You have to qualify for that race, and in qualifying, you don’t just have to get a certain time, you have to beat other racers in your age group to get a spot in Kona. The best of the best are there and it’s the ultimate Triathlon race. I went into it just wanting to enjoy every moment, mile, and person on the course. It was like a dream come true.
My second favorite race was the Boston Marathon. Nothing like the hype of being there. People cheering you on literally every 26.2 miles of the run course. It was super rainy the day I did it, but it also made it just fun and enjoying that I qualified to get there as well!
Well, there you have it!
I am so excited about this opportunity to work with IdealFit because I love being able to help people reach their goals and their potential. There isn’t a better feeling in the world than seeing my clients accomplish things they didn’t think possible and seeing their confidence boost. I love being able to help people be more confident in their skin. Whether it’s running a 5K, a marathon, or triathlon, I am so proud of every person that accomplishes their goal.
Whatever your goals are in life, I hope that you can turn those goals into reality. Dedicate yourself to what you are passionate about and make things happen. Great things happen when you do.
