School is back in session and if you’re in a high school or college campus, finding healthy snacks can be a challenge.
Since bad snacking can literally sabotage your fitness goals, it’s important to find options that help you stay fit, lean, and healthy!
Luckily, I’ve found a few staples of healthy snacks that not only saved me during my late college years but especially now when I need a boost of energy to get through my training and keep up with my busy life!
When I’m looking for a healthy snack, I want some protein, healthy fats, and not too many carbs involved. This will help keep me fueled, reduce hunger, and support lean muscle building goals.
Here are 5 healthy back to school snacks that fit my criteria! They will help you keep your fitness goals on track whether you’re in class, running errands, or pounding through a late night homework session.
5 Healthy Back to School Snacks
Protein bars are one of my go-to, easy to pack, and yummy high protein snacks I always have on hand. They help me get the protein my body needs each day to recover, build lean muscle, and feel my best!
Just remember that not all protein bars are the same. Ton’s of so called “protein” bars out there contain cheap ingredients, tons of sugar, and are more like a bad tasting candy bar than anything.
My favorite protein bars are IdealLean Protein Bars! They are soft, chewy, and taste amazing! They have 20g of pure protein isolate each and are sweetened with stevia and monk fruit.
Apple with Cottage Cheese
This is one of my favorite snacks! Apples are high in fiber and other nutrients and cottage cheese is a great source of protein. You can get 13g of protein in just ½ cup! It’s pretty easy to pack too!
If you’re not a fan of cottage cheese, any type of nut butter goes super well with apples and can provide a healthy dose of fats and some protein.
If you’re more of a savory kind of girl, then you’ll love FitChix!
FitChix are the perfect on-the-go savory snack that tastes DELICIOUS and gives you 15g of Chicken Protein with a low carb crunch.
Not to mention that ingesting protein stimulates the release of your body’s hormones that increase satiety and decrease hunger. All you have to do is just grab, snack, and go!
Almonds and String Cheese
If you’re craving some healthy fats, almonds and string cheese are a great and healthy combo!
Almonds are super filling because they are full of healthy monounsaturated fats, protein, and fiber! Here are some other awesome benefits of almonds:
- Healthy heart
- Optimal brain function
- Beautiful skin
- Better digestion
Just be sure to grab a small handful of almonds, because calories add up quick!
